The Academic Assessment Suite takes the waiting game out of program development, giving you the insights you need to optimize your programs — instantly.
It includes three self-serve dashboards for use across the program development process- from generating ideas for potential new programs to assessing your program portfolio as a whole. You can use all three dashboards throughout the program development process or select the one(s) most relevant to your needs. The suite can be used as a stand alone tool or paired with our custom research for more detailed insight.
The suite uses Hanover’s Higher Education Program Assessment Framework combined with data from degree completions, employment projections, market saturation, and more to measure critical components of academic success and provide instantaneous recommendations on program viability.

Identify potential new programs.
Take the first step of program development by narrowing the field of potential programs. Whether you want to winnow a specific field down to a set of the most promising programs or consider blue sky opportunities, Program Identifier generates a short list of potential programs based on student and labor demand metrics.

Optimize your existing academic portfolio.
Use the Portfolio Optimizer to evaluate your institution’s current academic program offerings. You’ll gain insights into which of your programs are growing or contracting so you can make resource allocation decisions and decide which programs to provide additional support to, which to maintain, and which to scale back.

Review a single academic program to determine if it is viable.
Whether you have a single academic program in mind or you are evaluating a short list of potential programs for development or expansion from the Program Identifier or Program Optimizer, Program Reviewer provides a detailed program outlook on a single academic program using student and labor demand metrics as well as job postings.

“We use Hanover to determine the market viability of potential new academic programs and help us get a pulse on our student and prospective student populations. The most important part of this partnership is the customization aspect. Hanover listens to our needs and designs work that will get to the heart of our key questions.”
—Nancy Prater, Director of Marketing and Communications, Online and Distance Education

“Establishing a satellite campus in D.C. for our Master’s in Business Analytics program was an important decision for us. We suspected it would be a very beneficial move for Darden and McIntire, but we needed evidence to back that up. Hanover was able to prove to us, and the state accrediting body, that we were making a sound decision.”
– Maureen Wellen, Executive Director, Faculty Advancement at UVA’s Darden School

“Hanover was integral in preparing our case with the HLC. Through Hanover’s research, Aultman College had a foundation that led to HLC approval with no monitoring required. We are thrilled to be able to offer this high-demand program to students.”
– Amanda L. Espenschied-Reilly, Ph.D., Dean of General Education & Online Learning
