One of the major questions confronting CAPLA is how to find the right balance between in-person and online programs. We understand that there is major growth potential via online programs, but they are also not something all our current faculty have experience with or desire to teach. We were additionally anxious to assess the size and elasticity of markets for some of our existing degrees and to assess markets for one or two new degree proposals.
We chose to partner with Hanover for this work after researching other sources of data and analysis already available through the University of Arizona and asked for recommendations/assessments of different external vendors from high-placed UA administrators. Hanover’s ability to handle projects with both domestic and international components was a big point in its favor. We appreciate Hanover’s access to data that would be hard for us to collect on our own, particularly regarding international markets and markets for online programs.
We have appreciated the regular and copious communication from Hanover in the process of exploring its services and the possible contract. It was nice to have the Director of Research join several meetings in order to explain Hanover’s research methods and timetables. We also anticipate that having a Relationship Director will be a boon in terms of making sure we understand what is happening at all points and how to keep the work on track. In general, the responsibility structure at Hanover seems well designed and communications have been excellent.
