The Current State of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Lessons from the Field

School districts across the country are increasingly focused on breaking down system-level inequities due to recent events—such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the summer of racial reckoning in 2020. As an initial step, district leaders must assess the current state of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in their systems. Equity audits provide leaders with actionable information about the degree of equity that exists or is lacking within its schools and district and can point district leaders in the direction of systemic change.

The Hanover Research team designed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) diagnostic to help district leaders measure stakeholder perceptions of DEI as one component of a broader equity audit.

In this webinar, Hanover presents findings from data collection efforts in the 2020-2021 school year and offers recommended approaches to engaging internal and external community members in productive dialogue around DEI initiatives. Attendees:
